The kinds of work I do …

My specialties are books, magazines, newsletters, technical reports — projects where tight organization aids clear communication. I take pride in the page design of both fiction and non-fiction books, valuing legibility and ease of use.

I am able to create .pdf, .epub, or .mobi ebook versions from books that I have designed and built for print. (I can also create ebooks-only, from manuscript without going to a print version first.)

I also build advertising materials to coordinate with book projects as needed. And I have clients for whom I create only advertising pieces (such as political candidates from a neighboring city).

Some past projects:

  • Autism Spectrum Quarterly (±64-page magazine/journal, color covers, 2-color + 4-color interior — 30 issues so far) for Autism Spectrum Quarterly/Starfish Specialty Press
  • Sword in the Boardroom and several other titles (paperback, both non-fiction and novels) for Hanshi Warrior Press
  • The Wall Street Traffic Light (non-fiction paperback) for John K. Harris, Ph. D., (contains more than 100 financial tables)
  • Jasmine Sugar (paperback non-fiction on grief counseling with meditations and poetry) for Rowan Lake Publishers
  • Real Strength, Real Muscle (paperback non-fiction, ±400 pages with 250 images) for Real Strength Publications
  • Voicing the Dead: A Poetic History of Early Day Carbon County, Montana (paperback of poetry and historical reference) for Rocky Fork Press, Inc.
  • Super Silly Sayings that are Over Your Head: A Children's Book of Idioms (hardcover children's book, finalist for Benjamin Franklin Award 2005) for Starfish Specialty Press
  • Truck Company Operations (guidebook for Fire Department operations, 372 pages, approx. 120 illustrations, and approx. 150 images) for Fire Engineering (div. of Pennwell Publications)
  • How Does Your IEP Measure Up? (book for educators on writing effective Individual Education Plans for children with Autism/Asperger's Syndrome) for Starfish Specialty Press
  • The Mattabesset River: An eight year summary report (data from water and macroinvertebrate collections with interpretations, including graphs) for Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District

I also do informational illustration for certain projects. Please see my illustration website to view some samples.
